The Oakcrest High School family is grieving the sudden passing of a popular school administrator.

The Passing of Oakcrest High School Assistant Principal

AJ Barchetto, the assistant principal of Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 22nd.

Barchetto, 46, is survived by his wife, Julie, and five children, Hailey, Trevor, Leah, Reese and Lainey.

Barchetto also served as the supervisor of special education and the child study team for the high school and had been a member of the Oakcrest school family for nine years.

A Facebook post from Oakcrest High School remembered the popular administrator fondly.

As some of you know, Mr. Barchetto was close with many of our students. We'll have grief counselors available to students in the Guidance suite should they struggle getting through the school day.

AJ had been an administrator at Oakcrest for nine years. He was a champion for our special education population, a role model for all students, and a friend to all who knew him. The entire Oakcrest community is going to feel his loss for a long time.

GoFundMe Started for  AJ Barchetto's family

The GoFundMe started for Barchetto's family memorialized AJ as a dedicated and loving husband and father and a tireless worker.

AJ was the hardest working guy anyone ever knew. He poured his heart into everything he did. His work in special education made a profound impact on countless students and their families. AJ’s commitment to his students was unwavering, and he was known for his compassion and ability to inspire those around him.
His love for his family was equally strong; he was a devoted husband and father who cherished every moment spent with his kids. Boat rides, beach days, practices and games--he was there for it all.

Visitation services for AJ Barchetto will be held Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Wood Funeral Home in Tuckerton. A "time of remembrance" will be at noon on Saturday, Sept. 28.
