A Jackson Township man has been hospitalized and charged after his car ended up damaging a home in Toms River.

The accident took place late on Friday night with Toms River Police being dispatched to Cox Cro Road near Old Freehold Road around 11:25 pm.

Police said that 23-year old Jose Lopez-Serrano drove the vehicle through a number of yards and crashed through several fences before finally stopping after crashing into a home.

Due to how serious he was injured, Lopez-Serrano was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after he was extricated from the vehicle by the Pleasant Plains Fire Company.

While the accident remains under investigation by Officer Terry Warren, Lopez-Serrano has been cited for Failure to Maintain Lane, Reckless Driving, Driving Without a License, Driving with a Suspended License and Failure to Exhibit an Insurance Card.

There are additional charges pending against him as well.

The home he crashed into was damaged bad enough to where the Toms River Building Department deemed it structurally unsafe following an inspection.
