In the midst of a world that presents so much evil, our police officers at the Jersey Shore continue to be leaders in our community by continuing to show how big their hearts really are.

In Tinton Falls, Captain Gerald Turning Jr. was recently recognized with the POAC Autism Services Robin Sims Trailblazer Award for helping improve the relationship between law enforcement and the autism community.

"The Tinton Falls Police Department is dedicated to serving our Special Needs residents and leading the nation in building strong and lasting relationships with our families," TFPD said on Facebook.

Captain Turning is also open to scheduling a low-key introduction and meeting with your loved one with Special Needs.

In Berkeley Township, Police Captain Kevin Santucci recently graduated from the Command and Leadership Academy, sponsored by the NJCPA (New Jersey Chiefs of Police Association).

Candidates with the greatest leadership potential are selected for this highly competitive program from all over the State, according to the township police department.

"For a program of this caliber, law enforcement professionals who are selected make more than a casual commitment; it is an intensive, demanding course that will pay dividends for the participant and his or her agency for a lifetime."
