When it comes to quality booze, I say, 'the more the merrier,' which is why I'm really excited about another new brewery opening up here at the Jersey Shore!

Little Dog Brewing Co.

Gretchen Schmidhausler has launched Little Dog Brewing Co., now open at 141 Steiner Ave. in Neptune City.

Schmidhausler is no stranger to the industry, most notably from serving as brewmaster at Basil T's in Red Bank for 12 years, even winning a few awards at the Great American Beer Festival along the way.

Little Dog is open for tours (currently by appointment only) on Friday and Saturday afternoons, which lets you not only check out the brewery, but sample the goods!

If you aren't interested in a tour, you can stop in to pick up bottles of Little Dog, or to fill your own *properly labeled* growler on Saturdays from 1-6 p.m.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, you can pick up Little Dog seasonal brews on Wednesday (November 26th) from 4-6 p.m. They're offering Pumpkin, Apple Wheat, Porter, and Copper Ale. (That Apple Wheat sounds like it would be right up my alley!)

You can buy one of their 32 oz. growlers, filled with your choice of brew, for $12. If you bring your own 64 oz. growler, they'll fill it for $14.

Sounds good to me!

I haven't tried Little Dog yet, but the Point's resident craft beer lover C-Note tells me that it's awesome. I'm looking forward to checking it out...and props to Gretchen for representing women in the craft beer world!
