First she invented a popular makeup line, now she has a whole lifestyle advice brand. Here are some tips from my interview with Bobbi Brown at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park on Saturday.

Bobbi Brown's line of makeup became so popular that she sold it to Estee Lauder years ago and now is an author of several amazing books on how to make your life better.

I spent a couple of hours with Bobbi over the weekend and had the chance to interview her on stage and give a live audience the opportunity to ask her tons of questions. She graciously answered every one of them and here's what stuck with me:

Bobbi says:

-- Moisturizers, including natural products like coconut oil, are your best friend for great skin.

-- Drinking lots of water and eating clean, organic, farm-to-table foods will fill your body with vitamins and minerals that will keep you healthy and looking great.

-- Sleep is ultra important. Get enough of it.

-- Just as important as sleep: Exercise. Move your body. Stand more rather than sitting. Mark your calendar with appointments to exercise the same way you would for other things. Whether it's through yoga or dance, walking or lifting weights, exercise does more for your body, health, and mindset than almost anything.

-- Do NOT wear too much makeup. It just looks ridiculous and fake.

-- Bobbi sees no need for injectibles or even facials...just give your skin a good cleansing and scrubbing nightly, moisturize, and enjoy the way your skin looks just as it is. If you DO want to do anything to enhance your skin, look into laser treatments, which are non-invasive.

And, finally,

-- Don't compare yourself to others, no matter how beautiful they are or how exciting their lifestyle seems. Just. Do. You. If your style is jeans and comfy Vans when everyone else is wearing heels and skirts, don't just follow the crowd. Be yourself. Embrace it. Love it. Don't apologize for it. Just be you.

For the record, Bobbi lives what she preaches. She showed up in black leggings and sneakers, hair in a ponytail, and sat 'criss cross applesauce' on the couch during our interview....in front of hundreds of people and several cameras!

Special thanks to Hackensack Meridian Health for inviting me to Women Rock at the Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall in Asbury Park. It was a great day! If you want to find out more about it, CLICK HERE.
