Many are buzzing over tonight's Mega Millions drawing with an estimated $750 million jackpot. This has kind of overshadowed a massive New Jersey Lottery win here at the Jersey Shore.

The grand prize for Thursday night's Jersey Cash 5 was $1.7 million. If that seems like a large pot for Jersey Cash 5, it is. It took eight straight days of drawings with no winner for that to happen. Not Thursday night though. The jackpot was split by two winners and one of those winners picked up their ticket at ShopRite on Route 37 in Toms River. Whoever was feeling lucky is now $874,115 richer.

Time to check those tickets!

The winning numbers were: 6, 8, 13, 15, and 33.

The XTRA number was: 4.

The other winning ticket was sold in Newark.

Fun fact: the odds of winning on a dollar Jersey Cash 5 ticket is 1,221,759 to 1, according to the New Jersey Lottery.

I also read that the biggest lottery win from New Jersey happened on March 30, 2018. Just about three years ago, Richard Whal of Vernon Township won a mindblowing $533 million with Mega Millions. He ended up being a cool $324 million richer after taking the cash option. Can you imagine the taxes on that?

To everyone playing the Mega Millions tonight (and in the future), good luck! And if you hit it big would you mind sharing?
