Thick black smoke is visible for miles around the Belmar area, where a massive fire is raging at a marina on the Shark River.

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty shared via Twitter that the fire at the Seaport Inlet Marina (Formerly AP's Inlet Marina) on 5th Avenue is under control but is still burning.

Power is being cut in the surrounding area, and residents and businesses in the area of 5th Avenue from Main St. to B St. should expect the outage to last several hours.

Townsquare Media's Dan Alexander spoke to the Mayor, who said about a dozen dry docked boats burned in the blaze.

Belmar resident Pete Gilman was able to capture video as the fire raged.

The Rt. 71 bridge over the Shark River is closed as a result, as traffic is backed up in both directions in the immediate area.

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
