Massive Monmouth/Ocean DWI Crackdown Through Labor Day
Hundreds of police departments across the state have received over a half a million dollars in grant money for another round of "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
The crackdown on intoxicated drivers begins on Friday, August 16 and will run through Labor Day. Local and State Police will be participating. As you'll see by the stats, drivers were nailed for more than just DWI.
- 1,196 DWI arrests were made
- 4,764 speeding violations issued
- 3,194 seat belt violations handed out
- 1,490 cell phone or texting violations were recorded
I encourage everyone to always drive safe, but be extra safe in the following towns in Monmouth and Ocean counties. These are the departments that got grant money for police overtime.
