Tis the season to lay down a blanket, start a fire, and admire the stars with your loved ones....and tonight is the perfect opportunity.

There are TWO meteor showers that are expected to be visible from the Jersey Shore later on tonight.

They are called the Delta Aquarids and the Alpha Capricornids.

There could be as many as 20 to 25 visible meteors per hour and there are supposed to be clear skies so our chances are looking good!

Keep in mind that it is best to watch the meteor showers in a place where there is a minimal amount of artificial light.

We do have other events coming up this August if you struggle staying up that late: the New Moon is just a few days away and the Perseid meteor showers happen mid-August.

Happy star gazing and meteor spotting!
