I love Starbucks as much as the next person, but is there a need for two Starbucks just about a mile apart? No.

There really should be two chains that close ever. I take that back. There is one exception. Wawa.

There are nearly 15,000 Starbucks locations in the U.S. They brought in $23.5 billion in sales last year. That's a lot of lattes.

There's currently a Starbucks on Route 9 South in Morganville.

And coming soon, there will be another Starbucks just about half a mile down the road.

Asbury Park Press is reporting that The Marlboro Planning Board has approved plans for another Starbucks in the Marlboro Plaza.

The only reason for having two locations operating so close to one another is that the new Starbucks will be a stand-alone with a drive-through.

That right there is a game-changer. I really think that the folks at the top are rolling the dice with this move. Not only will the new Starbucks have a drive-through, but it will also be in very good company.

The Marlboro Plaza is home to Hobby Lobby, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Staples, and many more favorites.

I don't know about you, but on some days I would absolutely drive an extra mile just so I didn't have to get my lazy butt out of the car to get caffeinated.

Does this give the original Starbucks a chance? Time will tell. As of this writing, there are no dates for a grand opening planned.
