Monmouth County SPCA Executive Director has eyes on Freeholder seat

The Executive Director of the Monmouth County SPCA, Ross Licitra, has announced that he will be running for a seat on the Monmouth County Freeholder Board and will be seeking the support of the Monmouth County Republican Organization when they meet at their annual nominating convention on February 8.

Monmouth County Freeholder Pat Impreveduto has indicated that he will not be seeking another term and therefore, the Monmouth G.O.P. will be choosing a new candidate.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for Freeholder. I am a lifelong resident of Monmouth County, dedicating my entire adult life to public service as a law enforcement officer and currently the Executive Director of the Monmouth County SPCA,” Licitra, who lives in Marlboro, said.

Licitra began his law enforcement career as a municipal police officer for several years and then as a county detective within the Prosecutor’s Office for 25 years.

“Throughout my career, I have learned the importance of how responsible leadership in government truly affects the quality of life for everyone,” Licitra said. “Upon my retirement from the Prosecutor’s Office and appointment as the Executive Director of the Monmouth County SPCA, it was my experience in 30 years of public service that I drew upon to reorganize the SPCA, turning it into the most well respected animal welfare organization in the State of New Jersey."

Licitra currently serves on the Monmouth County Board of Health and the Animal Welfare        Federation of New Jersey.

He has worked side by side with county officials and state legislators to formulate new laws and help guide the State of New Jersey to be recognized as a leader in animal welfare.

“I have always been a common sense, fiscally responsible leader and I want to bring my skills and experiences to the Freeholder Board.  I am eager to work side by side with our great Monmouth County team to continue the wonderful work that they have been doing at the county level to keep Monmouth county safe and affordable,” Licitra said. “As a Freeholder, I will continue to support and protect our core values that have made Monmouth County and our local communities so great to live and work in.”

Licitra said that if elected to office he would step down as Chief Humane Law Enforcement Officer for the Prosecutor’s Office but would stay with the MCSPCA.
