The Diocese of Trenton sited financial struggles as the reason for the shutdown.

The school, which is only 10-years-old, has an enrollment under 100 students. As support for the school stopped, so did the funds. This school year will continue as planned and the school will close for good in June.

As mentioned by APP, last year, the Immanuel Lutheran Nursery School in Lakewood, St. Denis School in Manasquan and Holy Family School in Lakewood all shut their doors.

Diocese officials said Mother Teresa Regional students and their families will receive information about other Catholic schools in the area. The diocese will also offer job search support to the school's faculty.
