If you're someone who starts every morning with a cup of coffee, are you making that coffee at home, or are you heading out to your favorite local spot for that first cup?

I'm a make-it-at-home person to start the day, but I usually grab a second cup when I'm out and about. Just usually a quick run to Wawa.

There's just something about getting coffee out. It's a little break in the day that I always look forward to.

So are more people getting coffee on the go, or making it at home?

Local Coffee Habits Shift

A new study shows more and more people are drinking their coffee at home. In fact, it's at its highest level since 2012, according to this new survey from the U.S. National Coffee Association, Reuters reports, and that doesn't come as a big surprise.

We're all trying to keep a closer eye on spending. That daily coffee run is more like a treat than just a quick dose of caffeine to get you through the day.

Home Coffee Brewing Hits A High Point

As we pack more and more into our days, with many working two jobs to make ends meet, we're not giving up coffee here in New Jersey; we're just opting to brew it at home.

But if you are looking for a break in your day and a little jolt of caffeine, one of the great things about living in New Jersey is that we don't have to travel very far for a good cup of coffee. Check out all the AMAZING coffee shops below!

Best coffee shops & cafes near NJ beaches

When it comes to food, New Jersey is known for many things such as pizza and pork roll. Don't count us out when it comes to coffee.

With all the hustle and bustle involved in the average New Jersey resident's day, coffee is essential. It doesn't matter whether you're living in the cities of North Jersey or the vacation spots at the shore.

In fact, as the former owner of two Jersey shore coffee houses, Coffee Dot Comedy in Sea Isle City and the Daily Grind in Ocean Grove, I know firsthand how much people at the Jersey shore love their coffee.

With respect to that, I asked my social media following where the best coffee houses at the Jersey Shore were, especially since my two places no longer exist.

Below is what they came up with. (And see this other article for their coffee shop and cafe recommendations for Central Jersey.)
