I'll start by casting my own vote. Of course, we love it all, but I love summer so much that there is only one choice for me. The 4th of July is amazing, but Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer, making it the earliest part of my favorite season with the entire summer ahead of it.

My vote goes for Memorial Day Weekend, with the 4th of July being a close second, and Labor Day a very distant third. I can do without my favorite season ending.

The Garden State is excited about summer 2026, and there is no shortage of opinions on the best summer holiday. The results are in.

Most residents we heard from are thinking more about the length of summer than anything else, so even though Memorial Day Weekend doesn't have the same level of fireworks and barbecues as the 4th of July, we are sensing a nod toward Memorial Day.

Here are the results of the informal survey we did, and the only holiday we feel bad for is Labor Day. You'll know why when you see the results.
