If you're anything like me, you base the fitness of New Jersey on what you see in parking lots.
Every time I'm on a road with a gym on it, or in a parking lot where one of the businesses is a fitness center, it is always packed.
If the areas around the gym are crowded, then New Jersey residents must be fit since we're all going to the gym, right?
Is New Jersey Among The Fittest States?
According to a recent report at LookMeds, my parking lot theory is not holding any water.

New Jersey is allegedly not one of the fittest states in the United States. The good news is we're not one of the least fit states, either.
As you scan down the list, you won't find New Jersey until you hit the #23 spot. That puts us squarely in the middle of the pack when it comes to fitness.
New Jersey's Fitness Ranking
Some of the statistics that led us to that ranking are eye-opening. For instance, 33.4%of New Jersey residents have high blood pressure.

31% of New Jersey residents regularly exercise, and the percentage of active children in the Garden State is 16.8%.
The state that is the fittest in our country is New Hampshire, and the least fit state is Kentucky.
