Maybe it's all the stories we hear about corruption, crime, and political nonsense, but the feeling around New Jersey is that we're not always hearing the truth from people in our state.

If you're disheartened by the thought that there is a lot of lying going on in the Garden State, recent research suggests New Jersey may not deserve that reputation, and I tend to agree with the data.

The study says New Jersey is not one of the states that tops the list for lying. While we are not among the most honest states, we're not the most angelic either.
How Much Do New Jersey Residents Lie
The study says New Jersey does enough lying to secure the #21 spot on the list. Not great, but at least we're not in the top 20.

The state that earned the halo as the most honest state in America was North Dakota, with Hawaii and South Dakota not far behind.

And what about the state where you can't believe a thing you hear? That dubious distinction belongs to Nevada, with Rhode Island at #2 and Florida at #3.

Several factors were used to determine each state's total deceit score, according to Study Finds. I'll leave you with some interesting numbers about lying.
You won't believe this. The average American lies 11 times per week. That's not even the best liars, just the average ones. And 50% of Americans have been cheated on. Ouch.
