After driving a little bit after the weekend snowstorm in New Jersey, I couldn't help but wonder if the Garden State is home to the worst winter drivers in America.
If you've ever driven in bad weather in New Jersey, you know what I mean. And winter driving habits are the worst, at least in my opinion.
So, I decided to find out whether the data backs up the reputation that New Jersey drivers are bad, especially in the winter.
The Most Dangerous State For Driving In the Winter Time
We'll start the mountain of good news by revealing that Michigan is the most dangerous state for winter driving.

This is according to an article at The Hill, which states the winter fatality total in the state for 2020-2023 was 156.
Here's some more relief for drivers in the Garden State. Not only didn't we make the top 5 or 10, but New Jersey doesn't even appear on the list of dangerous winter-driving states, which is 20 deep.
The Top 5 Most Dangerous States For Winter Driving
Rounding out the top 5 worst winter-driving states are (from 5 to 4) Illinois, Alaska, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Granted, most of those states have worse winter weather, giving us a bit of an edge in New Jersey, but we're glad to see it's safer on New Jersey roads in the winter than we might have thought.
