Remember Ace from American Idol? He sure is looking good...and you can see him in this show Friday night in Asbury Park!

This unique musical theatrical is called "54 - the Musical". It is set in the legendary NY nightclub. And on Friday, June 17th, there is a special benefit to raise money for this new musical at The House of Independents (HOI) in Asbury Park.

This show is presented by Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) as they seek new musicals and plays for possible production. Not only have they selected "54 - The Musical" as their first endeavor, but they believe that "Asbury is the perfect place to hold a show about the 'hustling' nightlife of the 70s, considering that the disco era was pretty much the last night life in Asbury until this century," says  APAC Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco)!

Written by playwright and actress Renee Bang Allen of Ocean Grove, this show is a combination of a musical, immersive theater event, and juke box show -- a completely new twist on a dance musical. This new show engages and encourages real participation by the audience.

This special presentation will feature scenes and songs from "54 - The Musical" with a professional cast of NY actors and a full company of dancers. And it's being held at one of the most talked about new venues in Asbury Park. HOI can seat about 250 guests (with standing room capacity about twice that.)

With the unique advantage of HOI's retractable stadium seating, the audience of '54' will literally become part of the show, come through the red velvet ropes and 'gain entry into the club.'

The '54' cast for this 'Funk-Raising' night includes both well-known and up-and-coming professionals from Broadway, film, and TV, including Ace Young playing restless rocker Brian Cherry. You may remember Ace from American Idol and Bones on TV, and on Broadway he was in Grease, Hair, and the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Also, n exciting star (with both Broadway and TV credits) is being contracted to play the fabulous drag queen chanteuse, too!

This June 17th benefit is by invitation only, so call the APAC box office at 732-531-9106 to reserve your tix or CLICK HERE! The bid is $54 per person. Fabulous VIP experiences will be up for bid at a silent auction throughout the evening, in addition to an exclusive VIP room where attendees will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with the cast.

Doors open 8 pm for the show this Friday, June 17th, at The House of Independents, 572 Cookman Ave., Asbury Park.
