The chimney the world has been watching spewed white smoke just after 2:10 p.m. local time, ending the papal conclave.

The white smoke signifies a new leader for the Catholic Church, after Benedict XVI's resignation last month.

It's an interesting day for Catholics, and while I don't consider myself practicing, the tradition of it all is incredible to watch.

I visited St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican a few years ago, and there is definitely an energy there that I haven't felt anywhere else.
