New Jersey American Water has announced that they will be replacing about 1,200 feet of aging water main in Asbury Park this summer.

The company will replace the water lines with larger, ductile iron main along the following streets:

• Jefferson Avenue from Atkins Avenue to Monmouth Avenue
• Monmouth Avenue from Jefferson Avenue to Atlantic Avenue
• Monroe Avenue from Main Street to the railroad tracks

This project also calls for the replacement of two fire hydrants and two utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.

This $195,000.00 investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community.

This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multi-million-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.

New Jersey American Water’s contractor, Montana Construction, will begin work on Jefferson Avenue and Monmouth Avenue this week and Monroe Avenue by mid-June.

Montana Construction expects to finish all projects by the end of June, weather permitting.

Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Work outside of these hours is not anticipated unless required to maintain project schedule.

Final street restorations will conclude by the end of fall 2019.

Traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours.

All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction.
