There's strong buzz about a Bruce Springsteen Wildwood summer concert, after a second weekend of Bruce sightings at the popular Shore spot within a month. It was more than the tram car that drew Springsteen out to the beach this past weekend. The Race of Gentlemen is an annual event that's billed as an 'automotive carnival'.

'TROG' is an ultra cool throwback event, as "craftsmen and women build and restore vintage American hot rods and motorcycles to blast down the beaches of the Jersey Shore."

The 'have to see it yourself' event started five years ago, further north in Monmouth County. The first TROG was along the beach in Allenhurst, just over a week before Hurricane Sandy struck. The annual event moved down to Wildwood the following year.

Lots of time and attention goes into making the event 'Period Correct'. TROG entries all need to meet strict requirements for beach racing that recalls the 1940’s and early 50’s.

So, Bruce or no Bruce in attendance, The Race of Gentlemen is a solid 'NJ bucket list' item for fans of hot rods, the beach or both!
