When Will New Jersey Have Its First Measurable Snow?
It's the time of year when we begin to wonder when the season's first snow will fall on New Jersey.
It feels like we just put away the flip-flops and the sunscreen, but it won't be long before our concerns in the Garden State will turn to winter weather.
When Will New Jersey Get Its First Measurable Snow?
If you think it's too early to talk about snow in the Garden State, you are probably right, but before you put it deep in the back of your mind, you should know some things.
First, here are parts of New Jersey that, on average, see the first measurable snow in a month that starts in about seven weeks.
On average most of New Jersey's first measurable snow occurs in December, but in the northwest part of the state, it's a November event, according to the Weather Channel.

The Halloween Snowstorm of 2011
But let's forget about November and December for a moment to remind you that New Jersey has seen major October snow, and it didn't happen that long ago.
As Weather NJ reminds us, we simply have to go back to 2011 to find an October snowstorm that dumped significant snow on the Garden State.
That storm, called the Halloween Snowstorm dumped 1-4 inches in the central part of the state and 10-20 inches in the the northwest part of New Jersey.
Let's hope this history doesn't repeat itself this year. And remember, Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow will keep you updated on all New Jersey weather info.
