Cerbo’s Lumber & Hardware in Parsippany, New Jersey Has Closed

It opened way back in 1948.

Now after 76 years, this family-owned business has closed its doors.

That's pretty incredible when you think about it.

It says a lot about a business that has been able to thrive for nearly eight decades and three generations even as other bigger hardware stores, including Home Depot, Channel Lumber, and others, moved into the area.

Family member Cathy Cerbo told the Daily Record that the buyer is a local developer.

"It was the right offer at the right time by the right developer," she said. "The plans are yet to be determined."

If you live in the area odds are you know this family business, it's been a staple in the community.

In an interview with the Daily Record Cerbo said, "We helped to build a lot of Parsippany."

The family has another business, which happens to be the oldest business in Parsippany, Cerbo Greenhouse and Garden Center on Littleton Road.

Although Cerbo's Lumber and Hardware is closing the greenhouse and garden center is still up and running.

And yes, it's recognized as the town's oldest business after being open for 112 years, according to the article.
