Will New Jersey Drivers Replace The Middle Finger?
There has been some buzz on social media recently about replacing the Jersey salute, the middle finger while driving.
Giving the middle finger is almost an Olympic sport in New Jersey. Even if you're generally a passive and peaceful person, once you hit the roads in the Garden State, the middle finger becomes a part of your driving tools.

Some of them get them more than we give them. It all depends on what kind of a driver you are, and where you drive.
Lately, however, there seems to be a push to replace the middle finger with a thumbs-up while we're driving. But it's not because we're trying to be better people.

The reason some people say we should switch to a sarcastic thumbs-up is because it will aggravate the other driver even more, and what's more "New Jersey" than that?
The New Jersey Thumbs-Up?
I must admit, I've gotten used to getting the finger once in a while, and I can shrug it off pretty easily. But I'm not so sure about the thumbs-up.
On the surface, it seems less rude, but is it? It's simultaneously chastising me and giving me a big dose of Jersey sarcasm. Sounds like the perfect recipe for Garden State roads.
The more I think about it, the more I think I just want to get the finger. I understand it, I can deal with it, and I'm used to it.
I never realized it, but I guess I'm just a hopeless traditionalist.
