My New Jersey Pet Peeve This Week – Gestures That Demand A Thank You
My series on New Jersey Pet Peeves continues, focusing this time on the Garden State gestures that demand a thank you.
These New Jersey Actions Demand A Thank You
This whole pet peeve started when I slowed down my car at an intersection because a family was trying to cross the street.
No cars were coming the other way, but there was a pile of cars behind me. But since the light we were approaching was red, I took the opportunity to stop to let the family cross.
I was, of course, greeted with a symphony of beeps behind me, but I didn't care because I was helping this family.
A Simple New Jersey Thank You Would Be Nice
They crossed, never looked up, and never said thank you. A thank you wasn't the reason I did it, but it would have been nice.
I shrugged it off and went on my way. A few miles down the road, I decided to get gas. I gave the attendant my card and asked for my usual fill-up with regular.
When the tank was full, the guy handed me the receipt. I said, "Thanks, have a great day". His response...silence, not a word. All I needed was a quick, "you, too."
You Should Say Thank You After These Gestures
I don't think it's too much to ask to get a "thank you" after the following gestures. Let's see if you agree.

When You Give A Greeting
When You Let Someone In Front Of You
When You Go Out Of Your Way To Be Nice
When You Tip Generously
When You Are Kind On The Roads
New Jersey, follow these simple steps, and our state will be a better place. It's easy. We can do it.
