Pier Village did the ribbon cutting for their new carousel over the July 4 weekend. We've got an inside look at the new addition to the Long Branch boardwalk.

This wooden carousel was handcrafted. While it features classic horses, the carousel also spotlights brightly colored sea creatures that are extremely detailed. This is so incredibly well done.

Long Branch Mayor John Pallone said:

The carousel is a welcome addition to the promenade. The city is very happy that the carousel is going to open this summer for Long Branch children and non-resident children to enjoy. We are especially happy with the discount extended to Long Branch students so that children here have another summer activity at the shore.

Ready for a ride? The grand opening of the carousel is scheduled for July 28. Children's performances, refreshments, and other exciting activities are planned.

The Pier Village carousel is part of the major boardwalk expansion including The Lofts at Pier Village.
