Big Name Monmouth County, NJ Eatery Closes and Residents Have Mixed Reactions
When it comes to dining options in Monmouth County, there is certainly not a shortage of options.
A recent sudden closing is getting some pretty varied reactions from residents.
2021 was a rough year for the food industry.
It felt like every day we were learning of another restaurant closing its doors.
Just yesterday, I told you about Eli's Hot Bagels in Aberdeen.
This business had been serving up breakfast sandwiches since the 70s.
Due to what they are calling differences with the landlord related to the pandemic, they closed their doors for good on Sunday, January 2.
Usually when I write about a pizza joint in the area closing it sets off alarms, and rightfully so. We love our pizza.
This one is a little different.
The Howell Happenings Facebook page announced that Pizza Hut in the Howell Plaza on Route 9 closed. They say "nobody out-pizzas The Hut," but apparently, not always.
As you could imagine the response to this news was, well, mixed. Pizza Hut is not everybody's thing.
One group member commented:
I haven't been there in years. Why bother with corporate chain pizza when we have so many good locally-owned mom-and-pop pizza places?
Agreed 100%. Although sometimes you just are in the mood for Pizza Hut pizza, you know?

Yes! The Pizza Hut salad bar. Lots of memories. For some reason every time I think about eating inside a pizza hut, this comes to mind.

It turns out that this is just a temporary closing.
This Pizza Hut is relocating here:
That is Bennetts Mills Plaza on W. County Line Road in Jackson.
It's still unknown where in the plaza The Hut is going or when they are planning on reopening.
