Major Jersey Shore Beach Not Opening For Memorial Day Weekend
Unfortunately, a major Jersey Shore beach will not be open for Memorial Day Weekend.
Jenkinson's Boardwalk has just announced that because the Borough of Point Pleasant will not be opening the boardwalk, Jenkinson's Beach will closed for Memorial Day Weekend.
This also means that there will be no lifeguards on duty and therefore no swimming will be allowed.
*Tear*
According to Jenkinsons.com, this is the full statement that is being released:
"May 21, 2020: Unfortunately, due to the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach not opening the boardwalk, Jenkinson's Beach will not be open for Memorial Day Weekend. We are extremely disappointed as our staff has worked diligently to prepare for a safe opening. We miss you. Stay safe & see yo soon!"
I think it's safe to say that all of us are disappointed.
But safety has to be everyone's top priority as we head into this Summer.
So let's do this right so we can all be back on the beach sipping a pina colada as we were intended to.
Keep an eye on Jenkinson's website and twitter feed for additional announcements.
