Holmdel Police are looking for witnesses of a fatal car accident that took place near Palmer Avenue and Tanners Landing Way Tuesday night.

Middletown Police were the ones who first responded to the crash around 6:29 pm at the intersection.

Investigators say a car heading south on Palmer struck a curb and then crossed into the northbound lanes where it was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver who crossed into the other lane passed away at the scene.

The injuries in the other car were non-life threatening and both the driver and passenger were brought to Riverview Hospital for treatment.

Palmer Avenue was closed in both directions for about 4 hours due to the investigation.

Middletown and Holmdel Fire and First Aid Squads, Monoc Paramedics and the Middletown Fire Police assisted at the scene.
