We've been waiting for the doors of a brand new market to open for quite some time. Unfortunately, the launch has been delayed, but trust me it'll be well worth the wait.

Pathmark in Brick closed down in 2015 and that giant 30,000 square-foot space sat empty until 2019.

That's when we found out that very popular North Jersey grocer Corrado's Market would be moving into Laurel Square by the summer of 2020.

Why the delay? COVID, duh.

Brick Patch reported that Mayor Ducey was asked about the status of Corrado's during his popular Facebook live series and said he has been in touch with the owners of Corrado's and they are still looking to open the Brick location. They are hoping to open up shop by the end of March 2021.

Corrado's Market has locations in Clifton, Denville, Fairfield, North Arlington, and Wayne, and everyone familiar with the store raves about it.

Nothing against the large grocery chains, but I think this going to be great for the area.

Corrado's is a family-owned third-generation family-owned specialty grocery store. It will feature all of the necessary departments with produce, meat department, deli, fish, and a specialty Italian grocery. Corrado's will occupy all 30,000 square-feet of real estate and will have a liquor store as well.

Talking to Asbury Park Press, Paul Corrado, president of Corrado's Market said

If I had a dollar for every time somebody asked me to open in Brick, I'd be able to retire right now.
