I got out to the AMC Loews Brick Plaza 10 to see San Andreas this weekend. If you haven't seen it yet, you may want to read this before you go.

I'm a big fan of action movies, and I love great special effects, and this movie had a lot of both. The special effects were especially awesome and the scenes of destruction were all too real.

There were, however, some scenes of absurdity, the kind you'd find in a Syfy or superhero movie, and I'm not seeing any Academy Awards for acting in the future of this flick, but that's not what you would expect when you choose this movie.

Dwayne Johnson is, well, Dwayne Johnson and if you love him you'll love this movie. The flick has also sparked conversations of how real the possibility is of this scenario is along the San Andreas fault.

Many experts are talking earthquake preparedness and separating truth from myth about some parts of the flick, like in this article at npr.org, and if the end result of this movie is people being more aware and more prepared in the event of an actual major earthquake, then this movie has accomplished some good.

RatingOverall 2.5 out of 5, but the special effects get a 3.5 out of 5.
