Route 35 & Churchill Bridge Construction in Brielle Starts Today
BRIELLE — Road and bridge construction in Monmouth County is expected to cause delays and a traffic shift, according to the New Jersey Department of Traffic.
The traffic shift will occur on the Route 35 bridge (Churchill Bridge) over Ashley Avenue in Brielle, beginning at 7:00 am on Saturday, February 7th, 2020. Traffic will be diverted from the left lane of the northbound side of the bridge to the right shoulder of the southbound side of the bridge to create a center for the work zone, NJDOT outlines.
One lane is expected to be maintained in the right shoulder on the northbound bridge.
Construction crews, which are replacing girders, decks, parapets, and sidewalks, will likely have this traffic pattern in place for a few months, "This configuration will remain in place through the end of the project, which is anticipated to be completed before Memorial Day," an NJDOT statement said.
The $6.8 million project is being federally-funded and will also improve the substructure, lighting, and approaches to the bridge. The project has been designed in stages to minimize impacts on traffic in this high volume area of Monmouth County.
If there are any changes due to weather or other factors, motorists can check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for live traffic information.
