We Finally Know What’s Opening at the Old Super Foodtown in Toms River, NJ
I grew up right down the street from the old Super Foodtown. As a matter of fact, I remember working at the radio station for the grand opening a hundred years ago.
I really liked the store not only for its convenience, but also they were open 24 hours a day. Remember that? For a night owl like me, that was huge.

Unfortunately, my beloved Super Foodtown would close. I've since gotten over it because that was over ten years ago. It's hard to believe that space has been vacant for that long. The rest of the Bellcrest Plaza has been transformed with a Dollar Tree, Planet Fitness, and others. I still miss Blockbuster, though.
If it's a retailer you're hoping to move into the Fischer Boulevard space, I'm sorry to disappoint. However, the new tenant is going to be a welcomed addition to the area.
David P. Wills of The Asbury Park Press always has his finger on the pulse of what's coming and going in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. He's reporting that RWJBarnabas Health is going to take over a large portion of that space. A new primary care practice will reportedly take half of the old Super Foodtown and the space to its left that used to be a bank.
There is no timeline on when the new facility will open, but Mayor Mo Hill is happy to say to APP:
With RWBarnabas coming in, when they renovate their space, I think that will make the property more desirable for new tenants to come in.
Primary care doctors are not easy to find, and RWJBarnabas Health is top-notch. Sure, it's not a Cracker Barrel, but this is a fine addition for Toms River.
