Rebranding is never an easy task as there are so many factors that come into play.

Signage, merchandise, and publicity are just the tip of the iceberg.

Rebranding is also a huge risk.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

Who could forget the biggest failed rebrand of all time?

Two words. New Coke.

Now, this involved a formula change to the uber-popular soft drink as well.

April 23, 1985, New Coke rolls out and falls flat, pun intended, on its face.

It was clear why the original Coca-Cola had been around for such a long time with great success.

Is there something wrong with the image of the Somerset Patriots minor league baseball team?

I did some digging, and the answer is no. Fans still enjoy packing TD Bank Ballpark and watching the New York Yankees double-A affiliate play ball.

It came to my attention that The Patriots were rebranding, and at first, I was shocked.

They are a team that Jersey knows and loves.

The reason for the new image comes from the ball club.

Patriots President and General Manager Patrick McVerry said in a statement that when deciding to rename the Patriots:

it made a lot of sense to do something that resonates with so many people throughout our state.

What is a true representation of New Jersey that everyone will want to get behind?

Diners.

There are over 500 diners in NJ that according to McVerry are:

woven into the fabric of communities and where people come together with family and friends.

Please welcome the "Jersey Diners."

The Jersey Diners will wear a tri-color hat (blue, pink, and white) with a coffee mug mascot emblazoned on the front.

Shoutout to Ryan Foose of Fooser Sports Designs who designed the logos, including the main one that pays tribute to the look of the outside of an old-fashioned diner with “Jersey Diners” written in pink script.

How cool is this jersey?

There's no doubt that Jersey Diners merchandise will be flying off the shelves once available.

If you are a Somerset Patriots OG, don't worry. The Patriots aren't going anywhere.

The Patriots will play as the Jersey Diners for three games this season scheduled for Saturday, June 8 at 7:05 pm, Friday, July 26 at 7:05 pm, and Sunday, August 11 at 5:05 pm.

During these games, there will be special music, "blue plate specials" at the concession stands, diner-themed promotions, and much more.
