Teenager Hospitalized after Jeep Rolls in Crash on Brick Blvd.
A township teenager was left with injuries to her body internally and externally after she was in a severe accident on Saturday night, according to Brick Township Police Department.
Michelle Piccione, 19, of Bricktown was driving her 1998 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Brick Boulevard approaching the intersection with Drum Point Road around 8:15 pm when the crash occurred.
Police say that as she turned onto Drum Point Road, she veered right too quickly and hopped a curb onto the Drum Point Arms Apartment Complex property when she overturned and rolled multiple times until the truck came to a final rest.
As a result of the crash and the subsequent investigation, two lanes of Brick Boulevard were closed for two hours which caused substantial delays in the area.
Piccione was treated at the scene for injuries to her lower body and was taken to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center with possible internal injuries.
Jeep Wranglers are notorious for having "rollovers", according to USNews and was ranked one of the most dangerous cars for new drivers.
The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration gave the make and model a very low 3 out of 5 stars when it comes to rollover safety.
Anyone who has witnessed or might have information on the crash should contact Ptl. Lampiasi at (732) 262 - 1141.
