New Jersey American Water is continuing improvement projects by announcing that they are upgrading 6-inch water lines that have been in place since the 1960's.

Howell residents living along Stockport Way, Westbrook Road, Westbrook Circle, Beacon Drive, Meadowbrook Drive and Putnma Road will see new 8-inch ductile main beginning next week.

NJAW will also be installing three new fire hydrants and replacing 114 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.

It's all part of a $2.2 million investment NJAW said will "advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community."

New Jersey American Water’s local, contractor, Perna Finnigan, Inc. expects to finish the water main work by January, weather permitting.

They will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and sometimes on Saturday’s.

Final street restorations will take place approximately 90 days after project completion.
