The study, conducted and published by WalletHub, listed the happiest cities in America for 2025. If you're looking for a New Jersey city on the list, you'll need something New Jersey is not famous for: patience.
As you scan the list, which consists of 182 cities, you have to maneuver to the second half of the Top 50 to find the highest-ranking New Jersey city on the list.
The Two Happiest New Jersey Cities
It's not until you get to # 36 that you spot the first Garden State city on the list, and it's Jersey City.
And then it's a long ride to the next New Jersey city on the list, and that's Newark at #138.
The happiest city in America is Fremont, California, followed by San Jose, California, and Irvine, California. They seem to be very happy on the West Coast.
