Whether you purchase furniture for the house or toys for the kids, there is no group of words as frightening as "some assembly required".

Last night was a "some assembly required" night at my house, but the day didn't start that way. Diane and I had a wonderful day as we picked up the new boat and took it for it's first ride. It really was a great day. Then we got home and the boxes were sitting on the front porch.

The island that Diane ordered for the kitchen had arrived, complete with the "some assembly required" stamp on the front. I thought to myself, "How bad could it be? It's only 6:15pm. I think I'll knock this out. What was I thinking?

The instructions had six steps. That only took until 8:30pm. Not bad, right? Well, it wouldn't have been bad, except for the second box I found, complete with it's own instructions...and  another six steps. Hello 10:30.

I got it done. The clock read 10:30. The pizza was cold. But the job is done. "Some assembly required" = 4 hours sleep. We've all been there.
