Hardly a day goes by in New Jersey when we don't encounter a grouch. Sometimes we find one behind the register of a store we're shopping at. Maybe we find one or two (or seven) at work. Maybe the grouch of the day is in front of you on line in the supermarket, and we all know the grouch's natural habitat is a place known as the Garden State Parkway. Dozens of grouches can be found there 24/7. And let's admit it, sometimes the grouch is us.

Today is the day we can do something about it. It's 'Do a Grouch a Favor Day' today. So, when the cashier gives you a dirty look today because your purchase is interrupting his or her personal call, just smile and say 'sorry'. When your boss screams at you for not doing their job for them, just nod and agree. And when you're driving along the Parkway, minding your own business, and somebody cuts you off because you had the audacity of staying within 30mph of the speed limit, just grin and look the other way.

By the time this day is over, you may be holding in so much anger that you turn into a, well, a grouch. That's ok, though, because then someone can do you a favor. Who's idea was this anyway?
