Two Ocean County men will be heading to prison after pleading guilty in separate but similar cases related to drug possession with intent to distribute, in announcements from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer.

A Toms River man could spend eight years in prison when sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine greater than one-half ounce with the intent to distribute the narcotic.

Jarian Adams was arrested during a traffic stop in Barnegat in July of 2018 where he was committing multiple motor vehicle infractions.

Police officers found a significant amount of cocaine ready to be dealt.

He plead guilty to Possession of Cocaine in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2), before the Honorable Guy P. Ryan, J.S.C.

Adams also plead guilty to unrelated charges of Possession of Cocaine in an Amount Less than One-Half Ounce with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), as well as Possession of Oxycodone Without a Valid Prescription in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(1).

At the time of sentencing on April 17, 2020, the State will recommend that Adams be sentenced to eight years New Jersey State Prison (NJSP) with a forty-eight month period of parole ineligibility.

The State will be seeking a sentence of three years NJSP as to each charge. All sentences are to run concurrently.

A Brick man could spend nine years in prison when sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute the narcotic.

Carlos Sanchez was arrested as part of an Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force and United States Drug Enforcement Administration sweep in Brick in 2016 where a search warrant of his home uncovered nearly 133 grams of cocaine, nearly 200 grams of butylone, oxycodone, marijuana and $32,000 in cash.

Sanchez plead guilty to Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2) before the Honorable Rochelle Gizinski, J.S.C.

At the time of sentencing on June 19, 2020, the State will be recommending that Sanchez be sentenced to nine years New Jersey State Prison with a fifty-four month period of parole ineligibility.
