A Toms River man is in stable condition after his left arm was partially amputated in a single car crash near Pisces Restaurant on Route 37 Saturday night.

Gabriel S. Frigerio 3rd, 38, told Toms River Police that he was cut off by an unknown vehicle causing him to veer off the roadway where he struck a curb and the vehicle overturned and slid across the parking lot, hit another curb and turned right-side up and came to rest.

Officers Scott Devecka and Officer Brian Elwood were the first on scene and found Frigerio alert and conscious, but entrapped in the vehicle.

They were able to pull Frigerio out of the vehicle through the back door and Officer Devecka immediately applied a tourniquet to Frigerio's arm in order to stop the excessive bleeding.

Police said Frigerio was properly wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and there is currently no evidence to suggest that he was under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substance or that he was operating the vehicle while using a cell phone.

Due to his severe injuries, Frigerio was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Ocean County Sheriff's Office CSI also responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Toms River Traffic Safety Officer PJ Gambardella.
