Ever since Jon Stewart announced he was leaving The Daily Show back in February, we've all been wondering who could possibly replace him...and now we have an answer.

One of the newest contributors to the show, 31-year-old Trevor Noah will take over the anchor desk in December.

Noah previously hosted his own late night talk show in his native South Africa.

Jon Stewart said of the choice, 'I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with…In fact, I may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!'

(Yes, please!)

The response to the announcement on social media seems to be mixed, with some wondering why a woman, like longtime Daily Show contributor Samantha Bee, wasn't chosen to lead, while others think Noah is the best possible choice. (Bee is actually launching a new late night comedy news show on TBS, and might wind up leaving The Daily Show anyway, so there's that...)

In fairness to Noah, not too many people knew who Jon Stewart was when he first took over the show 16 years ago.

It will certainly not be the same show without Jon, but it probably shouldn't be...I doubt there's anyone who could do it exactly the way he did.

We can at least give the new guy a chance!
