It's not breaking news that we can't stand traffic here at the Jersey Shore and it's not breaking news that we see it all the time.

So then why is it that when I travel through an area that I know has traffic all the time I somehow seem surprised...or at least disappointed? Hey, this isn't our first rodeo. We know all about Routes 9,35,34,18,37 and all the other ones.

We know about the Parkway, the Turnpike, Brick Blvd, Broad St. and the rest. So how is it even possible that I was on Route 35 in Sea Girt yesterday, I, of course, hit traffic and I was actually surprised! I was like, "What's going on here"? Well Lou, the answer is the same thing that's 'going on' every day...traffic! Two pounds of car on a one pound road...or something like that.

I'm not singling out any road or any town because it happens every day in every town around here.. It's just amazing that my optimism fools me every time. It's exactly the same feeling I get when I check my lottery tickets. What's wrong with me?

I guess I should know that traffic is going to be everywhere all the time, but isn't there something someone, somewhere can do? Is it too much to ask to take a 5 minute ride that actually only lasts 5 minutes? Just once??

And while I'm at it...does any road construction project ever end, ever?
