This giant retailer continues to scale back its footprint in New Jersey and nationwide with another store closure now on the horizon.

It's all part of a 3-year strategy to shut down nearly 1200 locations.

A significant portion of those closures, nearly 500 stores, are set to take place this year alone.

Walgreens Closing More Stores in New Jersey

The Walgreens near me closed about a year ago.

It was always my go-to store and now the building just sits empty.

Not sure what will eventually take over that space.

The Asbury Park store, at 901 Main Street, is set to close on Thursday, March 27, but now another Monmouth County Walgreens has announced it's closing too.

The Asbury Park Press reports:

"Our retail pharmacy business is central to our go-forward business strategy," the spokesperson said in a statement about the Asbury Park closure. "However, increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures are weighing on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing and supply needs."

Walgreens is Closing in Lincroft

The latest closure to be announced is the Walgreens store on Newman Springs Road in Lincroft.

Both the store and pharmacy will shut down at noon on March 17th.

That's according to a sign out front of the store.

Your prescriptions will be available at any Walgreens location, according to the Asbury Park Press.

In Monmouth County, Walgreens now has two remaining stores: one in Red Bank and the other in Little Silver.
