Whale Swims Very Close to Shore in Point Pleasant Beach [VIDEO]

If you spend enough time at the beach here at the Jersey Shore, you're bound to see all kinds of cool stuff...dolphins, seals, even whales...but rarely are they so close to the shoreline!

Bill Gepp posted a video to Facebook, taken by Max Gepp, showing a whale swimming about 10 feet off the coast in Point Pleasant Beach while the waves break around it.

Facebook commenters also reported seeing the whale later in the day in Belmar.

Seeing a whale that close to the sand makes me wonder if it was sick or in distress, or it was perhaps just looking for a tasty snack.

Either way, it's a pretty wild sight, and I hope it's healthy and enjoying its time at the Jersey Shore!
