The nasty weather continues for Monday morning, before calmer weather ensues later.

We're almost there, folks. Top rainfall totals so far peaked over 4 inches. Top winds (so far) have gusted over 40 mph. Numerous power outages have been reported already, and those numbers will continue to grow throughout Monday morning.

As of early Monday morning, radar is showing one more push of heavy rain, which will certainly make for a soggy commute. Meanwhile, wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will continue, making for a wild morning commute.

A Wind Advisory continues for most of New Jersey until midday (Noon or 2 p.m. depending on your county). Storm drains already clogged by leaves and other debris are subject to cause rapid flash flooding of roadways. Streams and creeks are already swollen with rainwater, and may continue to rise.

The turning point? 10 a.m. That's when the nasty conditions are expected to calm significantly. Until then, pack your patience, and use as much caution and common sense as you can muster.

We'll enjoy big improvements to our weather picture as this storm system rapidly pulls away. Believe it or not, bright sunshine will break out by midday Monday, and winds should subside to the 15 to 25 mph range. Meanwhile, the third phase of this complicated meteorological setup will begin: the cooldown. Temperatures through Monday afternoon will be limited to the lower to mid 50s.

Unsurprisingly, Monday night will be chilly too, as lows dip into the lower to mid 40s. I suppose the coldest spots could dip into the upper 30s, cold enough for patchy frost. However, a bit of a breeze will continue, and should help to moderate temperatures somewhat.

For Halloween Tuesday, we'll enjoy mostly sunny skies, while temperatures will once again get stuck 5 to 10 degrees below normal. It will still be breezy, with occasional gusts to above 20 mph. (Maybe even 30 mph.) High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid to upper 50s. So, quiet weather for trick-or-treating this year — you might want to add a layer or two under your costume, given the autumn chill.

In fact, Tuesday night could be our coldest night of the season so far — IF skies stay clear enough, and winds stay calm enough. Our latest forecast calls for low temperatures between 32 and 42 degrees. Again, if it's cold enough, it could be our most widespread frost of the season so far too.

Following Wednesday morning's frosty start, mostly cloudy skies may break into a few showers, from an approaching warm front. I suspect Wednesday will be our third day on the cool side, again only in the 50s.

By Thursday and Friday, however, the effects of that warm front will be felt all across New Jersey. Clouds will probably win the sky, but we'll make a run for 70 degrees both days. (Yes, 70!)

The warmup looks to be short-lived, as showers, clouds, and cooler temperatures resume for the first weekend of November.
