Whiting, NJ man loses control of vehicle and crashes into neighbors home in Manchester, NJ

An investigation is underway in Manchester Township after a vehicle went from its owners driveway to the living room in a home across the street on Monday night.

The preliminary details from the crash were released by the Manchester Township Police Department.

Police said that they received a call around 9:53 pm about the crash and immediately responded to the home on Milford Avenue in the Whiting section of town to find that a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis had gone into the residential structure with the back of the vehicle.

It was 64-year-old Clyde Jackson of Whiting who told police that he was backing out of his driveway when he "lost control of his vehicle." 

The vehicle then kept going backwards across Milford Avenue and only stopped when it struck through the front wall of the residence on the other side of the road.

Police said that there was someone inside at the time, in the living room, and 57 year old, Gloria Eppig of Dallas, Texas was later brought to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment and evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.

As for the driver of the vehicle, Clyde Jackson, police said that he "was not injured as a result of the crash."

The investigation into the Monday evening crash into the house in Whiting continues forward but as of right now Manchester Police said "at this point driver error appears to be the contributing factor." 

Manchester Police said that they were assisted at the accident scene by "members of Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base Fire Department, the Ocean County Technical Rescue Team, the Manchester Township Building Inspector, and Accurate Towing."
