Dragonflies require water to complete their life cycle. Because we've had an unusual amount of storms that have dropped a lot of rain, there is a lot of standing water.  Dragonflies lay eggs in water. They live in ponds, lakes and slow-moving streams. Adults only live for a few weeks.
