Why Winter Weather Makes Me Crazy

Punxsutawney Phil saw his stupid groundhog shadow, which means six more weeks of winter...and six more weeks of me being cranky.

Why? Take today for example.

I know a lot of people love winter weather because 'the snow is so pretty' and they 'love snow days!'

Well today is certainly not pretty. It's gray, and wet, and cold...and as for your snow days? Well, I've discussed that.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Monmouth County until 6 p.m., with a warning for the entire area that today's rain will likely change to snow, sleet, or freezing rain over the next few hours. They add that untreated wet roadways and slushy puddles will likely get icy as temperatures drop into the teens tonight.

Enter cranky, anxious Laurie. I don't want to have to drive 40 miles home on ice. I don't want to sit nervously wondering if Duzzy will make it home safely from the city. I worry about everyone constantly...this is just fuel for my crazy fire.

Not to mention the fact that this terrible weather makes it much tougher to do all the things we all need to do! Is my simple trip to the grocery store going to be more like a ride down the luge? Is a walk to grab something downtown going to be like a trek on the skating rink?

And so...I am cranky. 46 days til Spring!
