Wow a McMystery? What’s The Deal with the Abandoned McDonald’s in Ortley Beach

This time around we are looking at the McMystery in Ortley Beach! the abandoned McDonald's in Ortley Beach. I say abandoned because it's been nearly 2 years since it closed its doors, so it has sat for a long time and is empty....kinda abandoned, even though technically it just closed.

Doing a little searching online it appears that around May of 2020 we started seeing pots about the building being emptied out and the McDonald's logos coming down, which signaled to many that the Ortley Beach location was not going to re-open.

This McDonald's used to close in the off-season, but in 2020 it closed and never re-opened. So what is the deal with this location along Route 35? I checked the McDonald's website and it does not show they still are controlling the Ortley Beach location, so is this property owned by someone local? is it for sale? are their people squatting there on this property?
